The 2023 MLB Draft has been completed with 9 Canadian-born players being selected once it was all said and done. Let’s take a moment to congratulate and recognize the latest group of Hosers selected…
MYLES NAYLOR INF, St. Joan of Arc SS, CB-A, 39th selection overall by Oakland
MATT DUFFY, RHP, Canisius College, Round 4, 115th selection overall by Boston
CONNOR O’HALLORAN, LHP, University of Michigan, Round 5, 157th selection overall by Toronto
SAM SHAW, OF, Lambrick Park SS, Round 9, 274th pick overall by Toronto
AVERY OWUSU-ASIEDU, OF, Southern Illinois University, Round 9, 283rd pick overall by Philadelphia
“BIG” MATT WILKINSON, LHP, Central Arizona College, Round 10, 308th selection overall by Cleveland
PIER-OLIVIER BOUCHER, OF, SIU-Carbondale, Round 10, 309th pick overall by Atlanta
BRADY CERKOWNYK, C, Connors State, Round 15, 440th selection overall by Detroit
JEREMY PILON, LHP, Ecole Secondaire du Chene-Bleu, Round 18, 543rd selection overall by Tampa Bay
Matt Duffy (RHP, Canisius College) was a name I thought had a good chance of being selected this year. Instead of that, he headed to the SEC and the University of South Carolina. This should help his 2024 draft stock playing in the best conference in the NCAA with the Gamecocks.
Wrapping it up here for today with some old Canadian Hip Hop -
