Today we wrap up our Canadian prospect follows contingent with LHP Mitch Bratt. Let’s get into it…
Mitch Bratt
DOB 07/03/2003, Newmarket ON
6ft 1in, 190 lbs
Drafted by the Rangers in the 2021 MLB Draft in the 5th round with the 134th selection. Drafted from Georgia Premier Academy, Statesboro GA.
Member of the 2023 Canadian WBC team
2022 Texas Rangers Organizational All-Star
MLB ETA: 2025/26
Profile Positives
Command. The biggest strength within his profile. Bratt works heavily in and around the zone. Evaluators have put at least a 50 grade on it with Plus (60) grades seen as well.
The fastball. Would be his best pitch at this point. Sits in the low 90s but has touched 95 with 55 grades from evaluators.
K Rates. K/9 (11.05) & K% (29.5) are both very good.
Very athletic. Amongst the most athletic pitchers in the organization.
Profile Concerns
The breaking pitches. Both are works in progress with below-average grades at this time. Mitch does have some feel for the CB and SL but they can blur together. Improving the separation between the pitches would be a great step in his 4 pitch mix.
The changeup. A clear 4th pitch but has flashed some solid potential.

There’s a lot to like about Mitch’s profile. There’s definite potential in the four-pitch mix, especially as he continues to get stronger. This a quick reminder that he is only 19 years of age with some physical development still to do. Improving the off-speed repertoire would be something to watch for this upcoming season. Keep an eye out for Mitch during the WBC as he likely will get the start against a stacked USA team. Heck of a welcome to 2023 and the WBC!
We are going to wrap it up here for now. Stay tuned for my 2023 Personal Prospect Follows coming soon. Thank you for checking in and I’ll be talking with you in a while. Until then, as always…..Keep It 80 Grade.
